BEST TIP: STAY AWAY. Everything else you can buy over-the-counter dosen't do shit. Just a waste of money and time. Go to the doctors or hospital and insist on a shot of Kenalog. IT IS THE ONLY THING TO STOP THE ONSET OF RASH/ITCHINESS IN ITS TRACKS. The rash will no longer come out of the skin and whatever is already on the skin will be the only parts itchy. They too will soon go away (usually 24 hours starts to clear up).

I have poison oak up and down my arms as well on my side. I suggest bathing in the morning and before bed. use peroxide to clean the rash and rubbing alcohol to dry it up. toothpaste also helps to dry it out but leaves a bit of a mess. i also suggest wearing clothing that covers up the rash when you sleep. it spreads easily when you are sleeping because most of us are unaware of some of our actions such as scratching or rolling around when we sleep. calimine lotion works wonders to soothe the itching and swelling.

Had a nasty patch of poison oak in his backyard. Tried to burn it, which is a big no-no. The fumes enter your lungs and cause much more than irritation! As for treating a poison oak rash, raid your medicine cabinet for Monostat or Preparation-H creams.
