ok, most of our skunk encounters occur during the cold winter months where its too cold to wash the dog outside. We took an old towel, rushed to the only downstairs bathroom directly in the tub and used the Dawn-baking soda-peroxide formula and it worked great. Now some friends of mine just sent me a message on how to treat their house where a skunk died in their crawl space and other skunks sprayed their house in mourning... Any solutions for a house?

Well our Boxer pup, Roxie, just got skunked so my sister and her Boy Friend got the job of deskunking her.

They first tied her to the feince with her leash before starting the deskunking, it kept her from moving around and trying to get away. Then they got Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda & Dawn Dish Soap, as much as they felt was needed in a big mixing bowl, mixed it all together, and using paper towels to rub it on the Boxer. They made sure to get all of her body with the mix, from her nub of a tail to her head.

When they where done they hosed her off, making sure that they got all the dish soap, baking soda and Hydrogan Peroxide off of her. Then they repeted the whole thing over again just to make sure that she didn't smell at all.

It took them less then an a hour to deskunk the dog, and it shouldn't take more then 2 hours tops if done right and no one starts freaking out.

Make sure you don't use it all in one go, just in case you have to rewash the dog a few times before the smell is totally gone.

If all you have on hand is white vinegar, take Fido into the yard and bathe him in a large washtub with equal parts of vinegar and water. Next, repeat the process using one part vinegar to two parts water. Then, make sure to rinse your dog well.
