I have a child in my one year old class at daycare who bites. I feel like he does it to get attention. Usually, my co-worker holds him all day to keep him from biting the other children, but as soon as she leaves, he tends to venture to the smallest child of the room to bite him. I think he does it so I will sit and hold him too. It is so frustrating. He has caused one of the cutiest little girls of my class to switch to another daycare due to the tremendous amount of times he bit her. Poor little girl =(. Most parents wonder why I am not watching him like a Hawk, but there are other children and they get hurt or have a dirty diaper and I must tend to their needs as well! I feel terrible that these things happen! I have so much to do during the day and to feel like I have to sit and watch this one child all day when I have eleven other one year olds running around! It is very stressful! The parents of the child are very nice people and they are trying so hard, we cant kick him out! His parents need to work too!!

It is current medical advice, in the UK at least, not to wash with soap and water any wound in the home; but to allow free bleeding of the site, and then to apply a dry dressing to the area before seeking medical advice. The reason for this is that the act can in fact push surface infections further into a wound, where free bleeding would partially help to clean the wound.
