Organic Apple Cider Vinegar has worked wonders for me! The brand I use is Bragg's ACV which is available in some grocery stores or organic food stores. After shampooing my hair, I thoroughly rinse with tepid water. Then, I mix 1/3 cup of ACV with 20 ounces of tepid water. Then towel-dry hair. It's a great detangler as well. Since using it, my hair is more manageable, has more body and it has also stopped breaking. More importantly, I no longer have dry scalp/dandruff.

If the smell is too strong for you, after rinsing with ACV, rinse with a diluted solution of conditioner and water.

In my household, we massage a scalp full of flakes with a combination of olive oil and almond oil. Leave the mixture on the head for five minutes. You should feel some sort of burning sensation. Once this happens, rinse out the oils well.
